What happens if I fail the Australian RN OSCE?

Start from the result letter

Read the overall outcome and each station’s information before buying more practice. Separate communication gaps, incomplete task execution and hands-on technique that needs observation. Build a study plan from that evidence rather than reconstructing confidential cases or assuming a station topic will repeat. RN OSCE Candidate Handbook, 7 July 2026.

Pay again and confirm the next eligible cycle

The examination fee is A$4,000 for another sitting source. The waiting requirement is at least one examination cycle source, not a fixed number of calendar days. Follow the IQNM dashboard and Exams Team’s instructions; paying a course provider does not restart the examination application. RN OSCE Candidate Handbook, 7 July 2026.

Plan offshore arrangements again

Check your visa conditions, remaining validity and the availability requirements before committing to a return journey. A previous allocation does not reserve another place. If exceptional circumstances affected the sitting, read the procedural review and special consideration policies promptly; those processes are distinct from ordinary resitting. RN OSCE Candidate Handbook, 7 July 2026.

Practise the gap with supervision where needed

Use original practice scenarios to apply the next safe action, explain your reasoning and close the communication loop. Online rehearsal can help you speak clearly under time pressure. Physical procedures still need hands-on equipment and supervised observation; repeating spoken scripts alone cannot demonstrate technique. RN OSCE Candidate Handbook, 7 July 2026.
