What English scores do nurses need for Ahpra registration?
Start with the evidence pathway
Read the current standard and its evidence guidance before booking a test. A course taught in English outside the recognised-country requirements does not automatically meet an education pathway. Neither citizenship nor a letter from a preparation provider overrides the standard. NMBA English language skills requirements.
Check the current test table
For IELTS Academic, the current standard specifies overall 7 source, with listening, reading and speaking at least 7 source and writing at least 6.5 source. For OET, check the nursing test requirements: listening, reading and speaking at B and writing at C+ under the current table. Keep registration English separate from examination rehearsal
An OSCE conversation practises clinical communication, but it is not an English test certificate. Equally, meeting English scores does not show that you can carry out a physical clinical procedure. If your results or history are complicated
Read the current guidance on combining test sittings, evidence currency and recognised education. Ask Ahpra about your own documents when the published conditions do not clearly match your circumstances. Do not rely on a forum answer about another candidate or an older score table.
