Your scenario and task

You are an RN working on the postnatal ward. Imogen Hart is due her routine morning nursing review. Review her needs, then write the progress note and handover. Casey and the maternity clinician can be phoned.

What this type of station practises

Create a useful clinical record that distinguishes observations, actions, communication and response. Your notes should help the next clinician continue care.

In “Postnatal ward: morning care for Imogen Hart”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in ward. Practise completing a fictional observation record, a fluid balance entry or a progress note. Read existing entries first, use the supplied time and identifiers and make uncertainty visible.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
