Your scenario and task
You are the RN in a general practice clinic. Tom Anderson, aged 51, has diabetes treated with insulin and becomes sweaty while waiting. He is alert and can swallow safely. Assess and respond to the low glucose, then record actual treatment and the planned reassessment. Complete the supplied practice record. You and the patient are in the room; assistance can be called. You have eight minutes; describe and select physical actions in this online exercise.
What this type of station practises
Create a useful clinical record that distinguishes observations, actions, communication and response. Your notes should help the next clinician continue care.
In “Documenting symptomatic low blood glucose”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in gp. Practise completing a fictional observation record, a fluid balance entry or a progress note. Read existing entries first, use the supplied time and identifiers and make uncertainty visible.
These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.
Say-and-do preparation
Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
