Your scenario and task

Marisol Vega, 52, is at the practice after a small upper-arm skin lesion was removed. Her niece Ana is present. Explain the home care plan, check Marisol’s understanding and record what was agreed. The GP can be reached by phone.

What this type of station practises

Help the person understand, participate and make informed choices. Good communication changes with the person’s needs rather than following a fixed speech.

In “Home care after a skin procedure”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in gp. Practise discharge education, a conversation with an anxious relative or explaining an unfamiliar procedure. Ask about language, access and cultural needs rather than making assumptions.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
