Your scenario and task

Sita Gurung attends a GP clinic for a dressing change. She requests a Nepali interpreter; her adult son offers to translate. Arrange communication support, explore consent and document her decision. Do not perform the dressing in this conversation station. The patient answers personal questions; the examiner supplies requested examination findings. Dr Taylor Singh is reachable by phone. RN Alex Morgan is available. Amir Gurung is present. Do not change the dressing during this encounter.

What this type of station practises

Help the person understand, participate and make informed choices. Good communication changes with the person’s needs rather than following a fixed speech.

In “Interpreter-supported consent before a dressing”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in gp. Practise discharge education, a conversation with an anxious relative or explaining an unfamiliar procedure. Ask about language, access and cultural needs rather than making assumptions.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
