Your scenario and task
Beatrice Hall is receiving home palliative care and will transfer to an inpatient palliative unit today. Update her assessment and telephone receiving RN Casey with a handover. Her husband Sam is present and the palliative clinician is reachable.
What this type of station practises
Make a clear clinical request using Introduction, Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation. The listener should understand both the concern and the action needed.
In “Handover for transfer to an inpatient palliative unit”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in community. Practise a telephone escalation, a shift handover or a transfer of care. Prepare a brief opening, relevant background, measured findings and an explicit request. Do not delay emergency assistance to finish a routine call.
These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.
Say-and-do preparation
Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
