Your scenario and task

Fatima Noor has a catheter and a current request for a urine specimen. Review the request, explain the procedure, describe collection and complete the specimen and care records. Casey can assist and the requesting GP is available.

What this type of station practises

Explain how your preparation, workspace and handling protect key parts and key sites. The physical technique needs observation and correction in person.

In “Collecting a catheter specimen”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in aged-care. Rehearse planning a dressing change, identifying a contamination concern or explaining the procedure to a patient. Use current infection prevention guidance; do not learn equipment handling from a spoken script alone.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
