Your scenario and task

Victor Adams, 71, has a prescribed dressing change to a healing 3 cm lower-leg surgical wound. You are a community nurse in his lounge room; the wound plan and supplies are on the coffee table and his dog is in the room. Prepare, carry out and record the dressing using ANTT, and talk with Victor throughout. Say aloud what you do at each step.

What this type of station practises

Explain how your preparation, workspace and handling protect key parts and key sites. The physical technique needs observation and correction in person.

In “An interrupted home wound dressing”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in community. Rehearse planning a dressing change, identifying a contamination concern or explaining the procedure to a patient. Use current infection prevention guidance; do not learn equipment handling from a spoken script alone.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
