Your scenario and task
Arthur Lin, 80, is on day two after surgery. Staff say he is not himself this morning. His daughter May is visiting. Assess his needs and risks, discuss a nursing plan and arrange review. Casey and the surgical doctor can be phoned.
What this type of station practises
Explore a person’s specific risks and agree a practical prevention plan. Completing a form is one part of an assessment, not the whole task.
In “A morning review on the surgical ward”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in ward. Use invented histories to discuss falls, skin integrity or a change in mental wellbeing. Consider mobility, cognition, environment, support and what matters to the person.
These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.
Say-and-do preparation
Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
