What to practise
Rehearse reading a supplied medication record, discussing an allergy discrepancy or explaining an injection. Use only the fictional order provided; these guides do not supply a dose or authorise treatment.
This is a preparation category, not a prediction of a particular examination station. Read the candidate instructions and respond to the person and task you are given.
Make your approach clear
- Explain how you will confirm identity, allergy status and the current prescription.
- Talk through a calculation with its units and the required checks.
- Explain the medicine in plain English and describe what you will document and reassess.
Rehearsal prompt: “I will explain what I am checking, what I have found and what needs to happen next.” Adapt the words to the actual findings; do not memorise a claim you cannot support.
Common ways to lose the thread
- Continuing with an unclear or incomplete prescription.
- Relying on a bed number as patient identification.
- Saying a medicine was given before completing the checks.
