Your scenario and task
Leo Santos has pain after a minor procedure. A signed child medication order and liquid paracetamol are available; his mother is present. Check the prescription, calculate and demonstrate the oral dose, then record care and review. The patient is a manikin; address the patient and the examiner voices their answers and supplies findings. RN Alex Morgan is available. Ana Santos is present.
What this type of station practises
Show a safe approach to the prescription, the person and the medicine. Practise identifying missing information and explaining why you would pause rather than guess.
In “Checking an oral dose on a child medication record”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in ward. Rehearse reading a supplied medication record, discussing an allergy discrepancy or explaining an injection. Use only the fictional order provided; these guides do not supply a dose or authorise treatment.
These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.
Say-and-do preparation
Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
