Your scenario and task
Douglas Price has a long-term urinary catheter and reports discomfort. Assess him, document your findings and arrange any further care. The facility RN Casey and on-call GP are available.
What this type of station practises
Build an assessment around the presenting concern rather than reciting every assessment you know. Combine the person’s account, relevant examination and a clear next step.
In “A catheter review in residential care”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in aged-care. Practise explaining a respiratory review, a focused neurological check or a limb assessment. Use the information supplied in the reading card; do not assume findings that were never given.
These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.
Say-and-do preparation
Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
