Your scenario and task

Mia Bennett is brought to the clinic after falling from playground equipment. Her mother Ava is present. Assess Mia, document the history and arrange the next steps. The GP in the adjacent room can be reached by phone.

What this type of station practises

Build an assessment around the presenting concern rather than reciting every assessment you know. Combine the person’s account, relevant examination and a clear next step.

In “A child after a playground fall”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in gp. Practise explaining a respiratory review, a focused neurological check or a limb assessment. Use the information supplied in the reading card; do not assume findings that were never given.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
