Your scenario and task

Gordon Webb has collapsed beside the dining table. He is represented by a manikin. Casey is beside you and a staff witness can provide information. Assess the situation, describe the nursing response and hand over to arriving help. The examiner provides clinical and emergency-service findings.

What this type of station practises

Practise recognising the need for emergency help and explaining your role in a resuscitation response. Spoken rehearsal cannot demonstrate effective compressions or safe equipment use.

In “A collapse in the dining room”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in aged-care. Use supervised simulation for the physical sequence. Online, rehearse how you call for help, direct a colleague and give a concise handover when the response team arrives. Refer to the current ANZCOR guidance for the clinical sequence.

These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.

Say-and-do preparation

Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
