Your scenario and task
You are the RN in an aged care facility. Evelyn Price, aged 81, is found unresponsive in a lounge chair. The current record documents full active resuscitation. An RN can assist with safe positioning. Recognise the emergency, demonstrate DRSABCD and hand over to arriving help. Complete the supplied practice record. Speak to the patient and describe each assessment as you perform it. A second RN is available. You have eight minutes; describe and select physical actions in this online exercise.
What this type of station practises
Practise recognising the need for emergency help and explaining your role in a resuscitation response. Spoken rehearsal cannot demonstrate effective compressions or safe equipment use.
In “No-shock AED prompt in residential care”, use the task in the reading card to decide what to assess, explain and record in aged-care. Use supervised simulation for the physical sequence. Online, rehearse how you call for help, direct a colleague and give a concise handover when the response team arrives. Refer to the current ANZCOR guidance for the clinical sequence.
These are general rehearsal aims, not the answers to this scenario. Respond to information obtained during practice rather than a memorised solution.
Say-and-do preparation
Prepare the sequence and language with a related checklist. Online rehearsal develops thinking and explanations; physical technique needs supervised in-person practice.
